Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 8, 2025
Aphex AS ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Kyrio mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Kyrio, we may collect the following types of information:
- Account Information — Email address, display name, and password (hashed) when you create an account.
- Household Data — Household name, family member names, assigned colors, and roles (parent/child).
- Chore & Activity Data — Chore titles, descriptions, point values, completion status, and assignment history.
- Usage & Analytics Data — App interaction patterns, feature usage events (e.g., which features you use, how often), household size, user role, and locale. Collected via PostHog.
- Device Information — Device type, operating system, and push notification tokens for delivering notifications.
- Authentication Data — If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google profile name and email through OAuth. We do not access your Google password.
- Diagnostic Data — Crash reports with stack traces, device info, OS version, app version, and IP address. Performance traces for API calls and screen loads. Collected via Sentry.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the core functionality of Kyrio (chore management, shared lists, dinner planning, etc.).
- Send push notifications about chore reminders, household updates, and relevant activity.
- Improve and optimize the App's performance and user experience through aggregated analytics.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you.
3. Analytics, Error Tracking & Session Recording
We use third-party tools to understand how the App is used and to diagnose technical issues:
- Product Analytics (PostHog) — We track feature usage events such as which tools you open, chores you complete, and lists you create. We also collect household size, user role, and app language as context. PostHog autocapture automatically records screen views, button taps, and app lifecycle events. No email addresses, names, or message content are sent to PostHog. Analytics are only active in production builds.
- Error Monitoring (Sentry) — When the App crashes or encounters an error, we collect crash reports including stack traces, device info, OS version, and IP address. Performance traces are sampled at 20% to monitor API response times and screen load speeds. Session replays are recorded for 10% of sessions (100% of sessions with errors), with all text and images fully masked.
- Both PostHog and Sentry process data on EU cloud infrastructure.
4. Third-Party Services
Kyrio integrates with the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Supabase — Backend infrastructure including database, authentication, and real-time sync. Data is stored on Supabase's servers.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — Used to deliver push notifications to your device.
- RevenueCat — Manages in-app purchases and subscriptions. Processes purchase transaction data.
- Spoonacular API — Used in the Dinner Planner feature. Recipe search queries are sent to Spoonacular; no personal data is shared.
- TMDB API — Used in the Movie Night feature. Movie search/browse requests are sent to TMDB; no personal data is shared.
- Sentry (Functional Software Inc.) — Error monitoring and performance tracing. Receives crash reports, device info, and IP address. Session replays may be recorded with all text and images masked. Data processed in EU.
- PostHog Inc. — Product analytics. Tracks feature usage events, screen views, and app lifecycle events. Receives household size, user role, and locale. No names, emails, or message content are sent. Data processed in EU.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing its use of your data.
5. Children's Privacy
Kyrio is designed as a family app where children participate under parental supervision. Children's accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian within the household. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental involvement. Parents can view, modify, or delete their child's data at any time through the App.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the App's Settings, or by visiting our data deletion page. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Certain anonymized or aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
